Rain that did not stop

Sorry for the unclear photo,you can only see that the place is wet and not the rain but it is actually raining.It has been like this since morning and have not stopped since then.It has not rained like this for like about one week or so but today it is raining heavily.Although it has been raining for the past few days,it was not as bad as this.Many people are staying at home today as it would be difficult to go out in such a weather.Even my family is staying at home.My father went to Batam to play golf but now he is already back as it is also raining heavily there and there is no way he could play today.If you look at the roads today,there are not as many cars as there would be as the heavy rain kept people in their homes and make wait for the rain to stop.Unfortunately,the rain has not stopped since morning and by the looks of it,it would not stop soon.This kind of heavy rain made me recall the time when Orchard Road was flooded by this kind of heavy rain.Many people also had their homes flooded.Especially people living at the lower parts of Singapore.Now.people are more careful when it rains this heavily.They would put sandbags to prevent the water from entering their houses.The government has also made the drainage system better by putting some kind of barrier to prevent rubbish from clotting the drains.At Orchard Road,they have improved the system by putting in a drain that can be opened or close.This is to prevent Orchard Road from being flooded again.They are also raising the roads to prevent the roads from being flooded.Luckily for me,the drain at my place is very high and that will prevent water from overflowing the drains and flood the place.I hope that the rain would stop soon as it is getting cold...

The sister school of Victoria School

Yesterday,the VS track and field team went to the sister school of Victoria School for our training.The school is Cedar Girls Secondary School.Some of us went there by car togehter with our coach as our houses were near to his.As VS does not have a full 400m track,we had to go there to train as they have one.Some of us were there for the first time and the moment we stepped into the school,we were speechless.The school was really big and a lot bigger than VS.They have two tracks.One was about 200 to 300m long and the other was a full 400m one.We did not know where the full track was at first as it was kind of difficult to spot.We thought that we were going to train on the smaller track which was kind of pathetic for us.Some were like saying "we came all this way to train on this track?".But when our coach showed us the real track,we kept quiet and just walked there.They had a full 400m track which VS does not and they had so much undeveloped space which VS needs as we only have a 60m track.There were quite a number of people who went for training yesterday.We also had an old Victorian who is serving his National Service train with us.He had to go to some inter army competition.So,he decided to do some last minute training with us.His batch of Victorians was one that made the school proud by having all three sprinters in the finals of the 100m sprint in the Nationals.He was an inspiration to us to train harder and get into the finals like how his batch did.We would need all the points we can get in the Nationals in order to win the tilte.That day,we got the whole track to ourselves and because of that,all of us could do our own training without any disturbance.It was great training there as the wind was really strong and it was cooling.The only problem was that it was head wind and we would have to run against the strong wind.It was not only difficult,it was also more tiring than usual.After running,we had to do strengthening exercises that would build our leg muscles so tha we can run faster and endure the pain after hard training.We did two types of strengthening exercises.One focused on our legs and the other focuses on the whole body.At first,it was tiring doing all these exercises but when we get used to it,it is not so tiring at all.We only have a few months left before the Nationals and we are training really hard for it.Just hope we can win the title this year.   by expertvillage from youtube

Something unusual happened today...

Something really unusual happened today.Almost the whole class was helping out with the Chinese New Year decorations regardless of race.This is because we have a school competition which is to decorate the class according to Chinese New Year as it is just a week away.The deadline for the competition is tomorrow and we have not put up some of the most important parts of the decoration.Haha.I am the monitor so I have to get the class together.Most of the items used to decorate the class was bought from the bookshop.Examples of the items bought are red tapes and red packets.We did not buy all the red packets.Most were brought by our classmates from home.We do not have much time and the class is still in a mess!Everything is on the floor or on the tables.The walls also have not been fully decorated as we had no ideas on what to do.All the ideas we had are already taken by other classes or it is just too normal.The parts of the decoration such as paper chains have been made but we are still deciding on what to do with it.It is either to make the words CNY on the windows or to just hang it diagonally across the classroom.I had quite a hard time getting the class together as our form teacher is away but with the support and help of the class committee,we managed to get them all together and help.Tomorrow is the last day of we can decorate the class.If we do not finish the decorations by tomorrow,we are all dead.We will be the only class with an incomplete decoration.Last year,we were the champions among the secondary one classes but second in the lower secondary category.This year,we need to keep the champion title and become the champion in the lower secodary category.But by looking at how things are going,we have to finish the decorations quickly and perfectly which is very difficult to achieve.Although it is very difficult,I believe the class will be able to get it done perfectly if they all work and help each other out.So,I hope we can finish it on time tmr and be crowned champions again.Good luck 2I!

This is not our class,it is just a video of how a typical design of a Chinese New Year decoration would look like.At that time,this was nice but now almost everybody is following this design.Ours would be a totally different design.

Dental appoinment

Today,I went to the dentist at the National Dental Centre as I have to put on braces.There are three stages to it and I am at the second stage which is extracting the teeth.I had to go there as soon as school ended as my appoinment was at 3.15 pm and school ended at 2.15pm.I had to extract two teeth there.I also had to see two doctors.One for checking my teeth and the other for extraction.They already extracted two of my teeth and put rubber bands on my teeth last week.This week is a bit different as they had to put metal bands instead of rubber bands on my teeth.It took almost half an hour just to put four metal bands.After that,I had to go to the other doctor to extract my teeth.They injected my gums with anestheticto make it numb so that it would not hurt when they extract my teeth.One of the teeth that was extracted was a baby tooth.It was still strong and the doctor had a hard time extracting it.At first,it was uncomfortable having the metal bands in my mouth after the extraction.Next week,I will be having another appoinment.On that day,I will be putting on the real braces.I hope everything goes well on that day.

SAA track and field series 2011

Yesterday,me and the VS track and field team went to a competition organised by the Singapore Athletic Association.It was just the first series and the second series would be in february.I took part in the 100m sprint and 400m run.It was my first time going to a competition and I was very nervous.The 100m was held in the morning at around 10.30 am.The unusual thing that happened was that I screwed up in the starting of my 100m sprint.I always start well but that day was just different.I managed to catch up with the others.Even so,it was too late and my position was announced as third.When the results came out,they put my position as seventh.Guess there was an error.The 400m was held at 2.40 pm and i had to wait for a few hours before the race.We went to a nearby shop to buy lunch.After lunch,we started warming up and waited for the race.My race started at around 2.45 pm as I was in the first heat.Another fellow Victorian was in the same heat and was in the lane beside mine.In the end,I finished 5th while the other Victorian finished 2nd.After that,we spent the whole day waiting for the finals of the 100m sprint as one Victorian managed to get through to the finals.He managed to get around 4th or 5th position in the end.The whole event ended at around 5 pm.Luckily today is a half day in school.If not,we would all be sleeping in class.Anyway,it was an enjoyable experience.Can't wait for series 2.
